Nature conservation is often project work
Kranichschutz Deutschland is involved in numerous national and international projects. These are funded by various institutions and sponsors. However, full funding is rare. Kranichschutz Deutschland almost always contributes a share of the project costs itself. In order to remain active, we therefore need your financial support.
You can decide for yourself whether your donation should go towards a national or international project. Here you will find a selection of our current projects.
National projects
Biological diversity in Germany is declining, climate change is exacerbating the drying up of wetlands in many places, and the breeding success of cranes is also declining. There is much to be done!
We are committed to protecting cranes and their habitats in Germany. This includes breeding sites (wetlands), resting and wintering grounds, and migration corridors.
For example, we coordinate a network of hundreds of active members throughout Germany who count cranes in breeding and resting areas. This basic data is used for expert reports and statements on interventions in the landscape.
In addition to the crane and its habitats, we are committed to preserving biological diversity in Germany.
You can find more information about our national projects here.
International projects
Most crane species are endangered, which is why we are also involved in projects outside Germany. We help these enchanting birds through conservation and research projects, particularly in Africa and Asia. Currently, we are involved in projects to protect the grey crowned crane in Tanzania and Kenya, for example.
Our tasks vary depending on the crane species and country, and include:
- Recording and monitoring cranes
- Identifying and protecting important
- habitats, especially wetlands
- Ringing and tagging
- Knowledge transfer and environmental education
Donate to international crane conservation and help where your help is most needed.
