Crane migration over Germany

Thousands of cranes can be seen and heard over Germany since Friday. High-pressure-weather enabled the cranes a fast  journey towards the south. In Scandinavia are only 5.000 cranes left, in the Darß-Zingster Bodden chain and Rugia are still over 35.000 cranes. The current numbers of cranes in the most important resting places in Europe can be seen here.

If you want to observe the natural spectacle of the crane resting at the Baltic Sea coast, use the next days for a visit here. We are happy to welcome you in the NABU-Crane Centre and in the KRANORAMA, our modern observation station. Please note the current corona-regulations (vaccination-certificate, negative corona-test or recovery-certificate).

The map shows every crane-report on www.ornitho.de from the 8th to the 12th of October 2021. The two migration routes of the cranes over Germany are clearly recognizable. Cranes have also travelled along the new migration route close to the alps.
