Watch out fox!

It's great when you can work together to protect your offspring, as we described on our Facebook page on 6 June 2025. Unfortunately, this doesn't always work so well. Usually you have to look after your offspring on your own and our cranes are as careful as possible.

Over the last few days, we have regularly observed a family with their chicks in a meadow near a breeding site. Last week they suddenly disappeared. The culprit was quickly discovered. A fox was foraging in the meadow. The crane family probably preferred to hide in the nearby reed belt. They are sure to reappear in the next few days. We will keep an eye on them.
