The long journey of Baltico
Baltico (ID 7291 - tagged by the NABU Crane Center team in Latvia on 04.07.2019) has arrived in his wintering area in the province of Cáceres in Spain. Our travel report does not begin in the breeding area in Latvia, but starts at Lake Galenbeck (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania) and extends to the Extremadura. The 10 flight stages of the 2,334-kilometre-long migration show daily flight distances of up to 567 kilometers. In detail:

- 22:10: near Bourges - near Arjuzanx, 13:00 - 19:15, 363 km
- 23.10: Near Arjuzanx - Pamplona, (near Carcastillo), 12:30 - 19:45, flight distance 236 km over the Pyrenees
- 24.10: Pamplona - Madrid (northeast), 11:00 - 18:15, flight distance 214 km
- 25.10: Madrid - Embalse Navalan (reservoir west of Madrid), 12:15 - 19:45, flight distance 238 km
- 26.10: Embalse - Rio Tiétar (near Placencia), 08:45 - 19:30 (with long breaks), flight distance 78 km
- 28.10. Rio Tiétar - Moraleja (roost is Embalse de Borbollón in the province of Cáceres), 12:30 - 14:00, flight distance 75 km
