Many breeding sites are currently dry

Cranes breed in wetlands. For successful reproduction there must be sufficient water in the wetlands. However, this spring many wetlands in Mecklenburg Western-Pomerania, the most important federal state for breeding cranes in Germany, are dried out. Crane conservationists are thus very concerned that there won't be much offspring this year.
