Day of departure in parts of Germany

Yesterday was not only a day with good weather in most parts of Germany, but also a day with good migration conditions for cranes on the „northern route“ (see map from ornitho.de, 11.11.2021).

On the „Osnabrück route“ our colleagues Bernhard Hülsmann and Werner Brinkschröder recorded 32.000 cranes on their way into the south.

Did the cranes flee from todays carnival-spectacle?

Yesterday numerous reports also came from Bavaria, where a new migration route formed along the alps.
