Dancers of the North return – 27th Crane Week to be officially opened on Sunday
Vorpommern Bodden landscape. Every year in late summer, the sky above the Bodden region is filled with a special spectacle: cranes gather to prepare for their long journey south. With the 27th Crane Week, which takes place from 21 to 28 September 2025, the region celebrates this impressive natural spectacle and invites locals and visitors alike to give the ‘dancers of the north’ a fitting welcome.
A varied programme of lectures, readings, excursions and a musically accompanied slide show offers fascinating insights into the life of cranes and the importance of their resting places in the Bodden landscape.
Opening with award-winning photography
A special highlight awaits visitors right at the opening on Sunday, 21 September at 7 p.m. at NABU-KRANICHWELTEN in Günz: award-winning nature photographer and author Dieter Damschen takes the audience on an impressive journey ‘On the road with cranes – a photographic journey through Europe’. His photographs show the cranes in all their grace and diversity.
